Commemorating Strong Females While Accentuating Domestic Violence

Fresno, Calif. (KFSN)– After shattering glass ceilings for females in sports, Ruthie Bolton is now using her strength to assist victims of domestic violence– motivating them to bend their muscles in the face of abuse.

” Hopefully my story and my discomfort will get ladies eventually and say you know if she did it, I can do it too,” stated Bolton.

For several years, Bolton was known for her physical development, betting the Sacramento Monarchs and taking home gold in 2 Olympic Games. As her expert profession skyrocketed, her marital relationship lay in disarray.

” Some physical but a great deal of it was mental and psychological, I didn’t understand it, I believed domestic violence was simply physical,” stated Bolton.

More than a thousand people went to Marjaree Mason’s 34th yearly occasion to raise money for the domestic violence shelter.

Executive Director Nicole Linder hopes Bolton empowers other victims to look for help.

” She’s not what most people think a person who has remained in a domestic violence relationship would be, she’s difficult, she’s informed, she’s magnificent Ruthie, she breaks that stereotype,” stated Linder.

Abc30 own Graciela Moreno and Margot Kim emceed the occasion, which also honored 10 local expert ladies and one business for their operations in the neighborhood.

Bolton states it took her 10 years to lastly leave.

” I simply want this to be a story of triumph that I’ve conquered, I’ve discovered how to forgive myself and forgive him,” stated Bolton.

Bolton states motivating others is how she means to recuperate.
